How do take home art projects work?
Creative License® offers two types of take home art activities: take home ceramics painting and Christmas ornament creation kits.
When taking home ceramics, you get cups containing paint and can bring 3 of our brushes for a $5 deposit (returned when you bring back the brushes and have a receipt). Paint for as long as you want before bringing the finished piece back to be fired in our kiln.
Christmas ornament kits are offered seasonally. Each kit includes 3 colors of paint amounting to 3oz and a brush. Just like the ceramics, you bring your finished ornaments back to be fired.
Do you offer instructional canvas painting classes?
Yes, instructional canvas painting classes are available at our studio or on-location. Whether you have never painted before or haven’t held a brush since elementary school, you’ll create a beautiful pieces of canvas art with our step-by-step lessons.
Classes can be any size. We have a $25 travel fee for classes held outside our studio. The party host will select the template used for the lesson.
Do you have holiday art projects available?
How do on-site art parties work?
If you arrange for a painting party outside our Hartford studio, you get to have all of the fun and none of the work! Our Creative Consultants bring all the painting supplies to your location and handle cleanup. You just need to have a large enough location for all your guests.
You can host an art party wherever you want, including:
- Community center
Parties must be scheduled in advance. Contact our studio to schedule your art event.
Do you host parties?
Yes! Arrange a private event for a birthday, corporate party, family gathering, or night out at our studio whenever you feel the need to create.
Can I see the Kilns?
Anyone can have a brief tour of our Kilns during our open hours. You may even create in the same room as our kilns if you require them for inspiration.
Do I need to schedule an appointment to come in to create?
Walk-ins are always welcome during our regular operating hours. You only need an appointment if you are hosting a private party or want to reserve space for a larger group. Check our Events Calendar for closings or private events.
Do you have gift certificates?
Even better, we have reloadable gift cards. These make for great gifts for artistic friends and family.
How long will it take before I can bring home my finished project?
After Creation, your kiln fired project will be ready one week from the day you finish. Canvas projects are ready for display in your home or as a gift the same day you create. Just make sure the paint is fully dry!
I am not creative, I cannot paint or make a glass piece. What can I do at your studio?
We believe all humans possess art in their hearts. Everybody interprets the world around them differently, and those interpretations and sympathies can leap forward to be expressed through creative art. No matter the age, experience ,or confidence level, our friendly staff is trained to help you let the art out.
Art isn’t always about being creative. It’s about finding a unique way to express yourself. Whether it’s carefully planning a piece of fused glass or going wild with colors on a canvas, there is a project at our studio you will enjoy. Ask our Creative Consultants for advice if you’re not sure where to start.
We offer instructional canvas painting classes for anyone who wants to learn how to paint.
What if I don't have time to finish my project today?
We hold unfinished projects for up to 30 days to allow you time to come back to finish your creation. We are open every day of the week, giving you plenty of opportunities to complete your work. Just find a Creative Consultant before leaving to ensure your piece is properly stored.
Why did your phone number change?
Certain AT&T customers were unable to call our studio. They would always receive the message, "the number has been disconnected or is no longer in service". We were using Charter Spectrum for our phone service. AT&T was apparently not properly routing phone calls to our number from their switches to Charter's switches. After six months of working with both Charter and AT&T and having both of them simply continue to point their fingers at each other, we simply gave up. So we now have new phone service provider and a new phone number.
When/why did you change owners?
Our new owner Angela began helping you create March 1st 2016 after the previous owners moved out of state. Angela has a passion for people which shows when you come in to create your next artistic masterpiece.
Do you sell beer or wine that I can enjoy while I paint?
Unfortunately we do not yet have a liquor license with the City of Hartford and therefore cannot sell any alcohol.
Can I bring in my own alcohol to drink?
Per Wisconsin law, if the studio's doors are open to the public or we are hosting an event that the public has been invited to, then we cannot allow anyone to consume any kind of alcoholic beverage on our premises. If you wish to schedule a private event at our studio that occurs after normal operating hours, the store is closed to the public, and the attendees to this private party were privately invited, then you are allowed to bring in your own alcohol for your personal consumption. But as soon as you make any kind of public invitation for this event, including an invitation on your own public Facebook wall (not a private group), then the event is considered to be a public event and all alcohol would then be prohibited. We must enforce this to comply with all local and state laws in our area.
Are you planning on getting a liquor license?
We would love to obtain a liquor license. Unfortunately the City of Hartford has made it extremely difficult and expensive for a business to obtain one. Even the Walmart and Piggly Wiggly in Hartford do not have liquor licenses. So we do not see us obtaining a liquor license any time in the near future.
