A new year calls for a new "About Us". When deciding what to write for this new year, a million ideas flooded my brain. Now that Creative License has been open for almost 2 years the experiences have been many, the learning has been enormous, and my love for this industry has grown exponentially. So should I write about me?No Way! I want to write about Creative License!

I will use this space to write about the adventures of Creative License so check back from time to time. In the process of learning about Creative License you will no doubt learn all about me too.

I am huge into personal virtue development. I also loves art projects! When a person is creating something they are using their virtue of creativity. I believe when we are exercising our virtues whether we know it or not, we are performing a service to our self and to humanity. Yes, I know I said I was not going to write about me but you need to know how Creative License came to be. I created it :)

Why "Creative License"? Well many of the good "kiln" names had already been taken by other studios. On the other hand to have creative license means to do it your way. You don't have to follow a set of standards or rules. We are all individuals. I want people to feel free to do it their way. So if you have been to Creative License and asked me what I think, I probably asked in return, "what do you think?".

Creative License can offer you assistance though. I attend training almost daily. Those "closed" days are spent learning and cleaning. I attend online and in person classes to build on my knowledge base of all the offerings available in the studio. If you have an inspiration piece I can help you bring it to life. I love, love, love learning new techniques. This sparks ideas of my own that keep me up at night! There are so many good products out there. Come in and ask me what my favorite product of the week is. Oh... what a great idea for a display. "Product of the Week" coming soon.

Creative License is also about giving back to our community. I have lived in Washington Co. for almost 20 years. My residence is Town of Hartford and my kids are in the Slinger School District. I think of Washington County as one big town. Individually our towns don't have everything to offer, but collectively we have it all. I love living here! There is no way I would have opened Creative License anywhere else. Since opening we have helped women's shelters, church's, scout troops, sporting clubs, schools, cancer research, day cares, and food pantry's earn money for their organizations.

The future of Creative License is to keep learning and growing. I sincerely hope that you will come to this studio and have a great time with family, friends, by yourself (which is awesome) or joining in on a class. If you have any ideas or suggestions for Creative License please call Jess at 262-457-7200. I take all suggestions very seriously!!
